Advantages of BN-K1 material integrated polycrystalline CBN inserts for processing slurry pumps

Slurry pumps, as one of the main equipment in industries such as mining, power, metallurgy, and coal, are commonly used to transport slurry containing corrosive solid particles. They require high wear and corrosion resistance, such as Cr20, Cr26, Cr27, and Cr15Mo3, which are common slurry pump materials, also known as high chromium alloy cast iron.

After the high chromium alloy cast iron slurry pump is cast and formed, the hardness is high, and the cutting tool needs to withstand large impacts. The high temperature generated by it accelerates the wear of the tool, requiring high requirements for the heat resistance and collapse resistance of the cutting tool. Secondly, some slurry pumps have a large diameter and require cutting tools with excellent wear resistance to ensure a long service life. Intermittent cutting conditions are more difficult to solve compared to the above problems, such as the slurry pump impeller with 5-12inserts, which requires high impact toughness of cutting tools.

For the current tool industry, CBN inserts are more suitable. Hard alloy cutting tools can also process slurry pumps, but due to their low hardness, they are more suitable for small slurry pumps with short processing time. For large intermittent slurry pumps, it is better to choose CBN inserts.
