With the machinist industry developed, the society developed. And the processing efficiency is an important part in machine industry. So improving the processing efficiency is one of the main topics in modern society. High speed turning and high efficiency is the main direction, but high speed doesn’t equal to high efficiency.

Hardened steel has high rate in high hardness hard to machine industry. It is widely used in automotive, mold, bearing industry. In the process, the main problem is that Heat dissipation is not good, the cutting tool is easy to wear with high temperature, the cutting tools will chip when meet interrupted turning condition.

For example: Machining the raceway and the end surface of the slewing bearings
Machine Materials: 42CrMo
Hardness: HRC47~55
Working Allowance: Less than 2mm
They used ceramic insert before, each tip can only machine one work piece, and the working efficiency can’t satisfy the requirements ,it also can not large working allowance machining .The working time cost long and the lifetime is low.

Cutting Parameters: ap=0.5mm,Fr=0.45mm/r, Vc=110m/min,Ra0.6~1.0
Insert Lifetime: Processing 8 pieces workpiece with 1 tip

Compared Halnn CBN insert and Ceramic insert, Halnn BN-S200 solid cbn insert realized high efficiency machining .Saved the cutting fluid, and improve the working efficiency, so reduce the costs. And the problems which the ceramic insert mentioned have been solved.

Halnn CBN insert also can  be used other high hardness cast iron field, we usually use Halnn BN-K1 Solid CBN insert with roughing, working efficiency will be about 7~8 times of ceramic insert .
If meet common gray cast iron ,roughing often use Halnn BN-S30 CBN insert ,working efficiency will be about 15 times than coated carbide insert, and the cutting depth will be 2 times of coated cutting tools ,cutting speed will be 1.5~3 times of coated carbide insert .
